A good understanding of the physics taking place can be to your advantage. Following our summer camp themes, each week a new kit is available with all the materials and instructions you need for a week of activities that are fun, educational, and hands-on.

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is pleased to again announce plans for Summer Music Camp, the largest university music camp in America!

June 15-19; 9am – 12pm Kits are available for pick-up on Sunday, July 19 from 1p to 5p. There’s a “Tyrannosaurus rex” loose at the museum! Are you ready to go out of this world? June 22-26; 1pm – 3pm Children will be taken to their afternoon sessions or readied for pickup at the car line afterwards. You’ll also make crafts, explore outside, and connect with other earth-loving scientists like yourself.

July 27-31; 9am –12pm. Lunch Bunch is supervised by GSC staff. Register according to your child’s age by start of camp. Extended Day is not offered the first or last week of camps. This week isn’t all serious science. The spot may be accepted or turned down. Register according to your child’s age by start of camp.

They will also have opportunities to explore the GSC. This week’s kit will have you exploring outer space. Will I receive any additional information after completing registration?

What would you feed your dinosaur and where would it live? This week’s kit will mix traditional art media with shadows, sticks, flowers, water, and more as the ingredients in a creative masterpiece. Our teachers are energetic, responsible and dependable with an enthusiasm for science and children. Full class fees are required at time of registration.We accept Visa and MasterCard. Camp participants are registered for camp individually. Extended Days are offered as a service to meet your family’s busy schedule. If your student will be 10 years old by Sept. 1, 2020 this will count as the prerequisite for applying to one of the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) teams at the GSC. Feed your curiosity for travel, action, and adventure by joining Jack and Annie as they travel through time, meet new people, and explore new lands. The camp will also join the ecoEXPLORE program where kids can become citizen scientists. This week’s kit will include everything you need to assemble projects that incorporate the physical sciences, life sciences, earth and space sciences and engineering.

Please provide a nut-free snack for your child. Cold beverages are available from the lunchroom vending machines but we encourage reusable bottles. Once all the camps load, make sure you filter by age.

From pre-historic dragonflies to monarch butterflies, this week’s activities are all about celebrating the creepy crawlies and how they help our earth. After a thorough review of CDC and North Carolina recommended protocols and procedures, the City of Greensboro determined it cannot currently mitigate risks to effectively and safely manage traditional, face-to-face programs and events. From constrictors to crocodiles, we’ll take an in-depth look at what makes reptiles rock. We’ll mix things up, make things move and meet a variety of animal guests. With this title character as our inspiration, we will devote our week to developing an aptitude for the arts by dancing, painting, cooking and crafting. Young artists will explore different techniques and forms while enjoying the natural beauty of their own backyard. From the earth beneath your feet to the stars in the sky, we’ll explore a different area of science each day. Lunch supervision is $20/week. Say “au revoir!” (that’s fancy for goodbye) on our last day with a fabulous performance and a tasty tea party for the whole family. Summer Camp registration is already underway in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Kernersville, and Burlington! Campers will learn the basics of coding with fun activities using SCRATCH™ such as making a video game or programming a robot to move. Meet your matey’s each morning for quick sea shanty before diving into the whimsical world at sea! All in-person summer programs will be canceled or transitioned to online at Greensboro Summer Online. This week’s activities will help you apply STEAM concepts to explore environmental science. We’ll bug-out together each morning to get you up and ready to embrace your inner insect.

2020 Summer Camps Discover a world of adventure at the GSC Summer Camps for ages 4-12.

Kits will be available for contact-less pick-up on the Sunday prior to your camp week commencing. UNC-Greensboro. We’ll apply the techniques we learn to a variety of habitats right here at the Greensboro Science Center and Country Park and chat with experienced researchers, zookeepers, and aquarists to learn how they use water science for their jobs. Our team of professional educators will lead optional live activities, tutorials, and Q&A sessions all following the themes of each week. It is necessary to add lunch if your child has both a morning and an afternoon camp. We’ll have fun with experiments and animal inspirations for heroes like Spiderman, Batman and Superman, all without breaking the law (of gravity!). July 20-24; 1pm - 3pm. This week’s kit will have you exploring the secrets of the galaxy.

This camp is a prerequisite for being able to apply to a GSC FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) team in the fall. The Greensboro Children’s Museum has made the difficult decision to cancel in-person summer camps in June and July.

Meet snakes, lizards, tortoises and turtles to find out why reptiles rule! If you have taken this popular camp in a previous summer, please allow others to sign up this summer. Campers will build dinosaurs, talk with our own Indiana Bones, visit the Prehistoric Passages gallery and tour the zoo. Due to our online registration system, Active Network, there are costs involved in which we cannot offer a full refund. Wizard hats and capes are welcome! Lunch supervision is available to Summer Science Camp participants and can be added to any morning camp. Join us for a variety of experiences for the true animal lover. Intermediate Engineers will build autonomous robots using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime as they learn programming and take on a set of themed missions with their teammates.
